Flap Wheels
If you have been to a metal workshop, chances are you have seen a flap wheel. It is an abrasive wheel that has strips or flaps radiating out of a central hub. It plays an important role in metal grinding and the buffing process.

Dimensions
Flap wheels come in a variety of shapes, bonds and grit sizes. The overall diameter of the wheel can range from four inches to two feet. However, some custom made wheels may be larger.
Central Hub
The central hub is used to hold the flaps together. Depending on the requirements, different materials are used to manufacture central hubs. Popular hubs include:
• Cardboard Hubs: These are used for light, non-woven, abrasive flap wheels
• Heavy Duty Hubs: These can be used with virtually all kinds of flap wheels. They offer superior balance and integrity
• Metal Hubs: These are the most common types of hubs and can be used with a variety of flap wheels.
